Carlos Valdez Ramírez
Alfredo Campos Gómez, hombre sencillo pero de un gran corazón, nos abrió las puertas de su intimidad para hablarnos de su vida y de la huella que ha dejado a lo largo de 54 años de ser una voz con talento detrás de la radio.
De forma modesta, no se autodeclara decano de los locutores, sino que deja ese honor a que quienes iniciaron la radio en Manzanillo que fueron Carlos Rogaciano y Julio Romo.
“No me tocó estar cuando inició sus actividades la estación de radio de Manzanillo, pero sí cuando se instaló la primera antena en lo que hoy es la boca de la entrada principal del puerto interior”, tiempos donde Carlos Rogaciano, Gerente de la estación de radio fue el iniciador de este medio de comunicación, junto con el doctor Julio Romo, quien consiguió la primera concesión para el puerto. “Ambos ya no se encuentran entre nosotros, ahora tienen una audición más importante que la nuestra.”
Para él, una de sus mayores satisfacciones es haber conjugado su carrera como locutor y la labor social dentro de la Cruz Roja, a la que dedicó 47 años.
“Era uno de los voluntarios cuando la institución se encontraba en la presidencia municipal. Se realizaba un maratón en el puerto para recaudar dinero para la benemérita; por la noche, junto con Carlos Escobar Elías, quien organizaba el evento, me puse a recitar poemas que me había aprendido en la primaria o secundaria. Me apasionaban estas dos cosas: ser socorrista y un activo en la radiodifusión; me he dedicado a esto con todo mi ser, a la filantropía y a la radio en la XSS, la más antigua de las estaciones de esta ciudad, que ahora se le conoce como “La Mejor”.”
CVR.-¿Qué fue lo que te hizo distinto, cuál fue tu sello en la radio?
“La gente se enganchó de inmediato con mi programa, me dediqué a poner canciones antiguas y todo lo romántico formaba parte de mi repertorio, hasta la fecha, la gente me cuestiona porqué no sigue ‘la radio para recordar’.
Evolucionamos y le fuimos dando otros matices, me incorporé al departamento de comunicación para hacer enlaces a control remoto apoyando a los compañeros, estábamos presentes en los torneos de pesca y los encuentros de fútbol locales.”
CVR-¿Cuánto tiempo hace que dejaste la estación de radio?
“Tengo 1 año y tres meses aproximadamente, ya me sentía muy cansado. Estar activo todos los días durante 54 años, los 365 días del año, mañana, tarde y noche, llega un momento en que la rutina te enfada.”
CVR-¿Ahora a qué te dedicas?
“Me gusta la labor altruista, la labor social. Mi trabajo me hizo merecedor a una presea dentro de la Cruz Roja a nivel nacional, sólo 5 han logrado tener la Cruz de Honor, se gana con horas de servicio, participando en un sin número de actividades y yo la conseguí, yo estuve ahí durante 47 años.
Me tocó la época de la fundación de la Cruz Roja en Manzanillo, con Anita Barragán de Villegas y su esposo Miguel Villegas, junto con Fernando del Río, quienes iniciaron esta labor.”
CVR-¿Cuándo dejarás de ser voluntario?
“Cuando lo llevas en la sangre, nunca dejas de ayudar. Ahora lo hago desde otra área, me encausé a las actividades de protección civil, yo les decía a mis amigos Manuel Godina y Guillermo Ruelas que el nombre del ex presidente de México, Miguel de la Madrid se le debía recordar como el iniciador en los planes de emergencia nacional, que se llama protección civil actualmente. Él fue quien puso de manifiesto el movimiento sísmico de la ciudad de México en 1985.”
CVR-¿Tú tiempo lo inviertes en el servicio social, de qué vives?
“De lo que he ganado con el esfuerzo de la locución, de mis ahorros, de mi pensión y de los trabajos que realicé para el ayuntamiento de Manzanillo, ahí me pensioné.”
CVR- ¿Ha cambiado mucho Manzanillo en los últimos 50 años?

“Mucho, se respira progreso tanto en la ciudad como en el puerto, no es fácil posicionarte como el primer puerto de altura; las factorías, la energía que generamos para abastecer a 11 Estados, con una de las Regasificadoras más modernas, las extraordinarias cantidades que se mueven por la carga y descarga de contenedores, todo eso habla de transformación, de avance, de progreso.
Hemos sido testigos de la evolución que ha sufrido la ciudad, el ‘boom’ de la construcción de hoteles de calidad. Son realmente bellos, eso lo aprecia la gente, nos hemos sacado la lotería sin haberla jugado. Este puerto tiene mucha historia qué contar, soy un enamorado de Manzanillo; nací el 27 de noviembre de 1938, por la calle Juárez número 1; conocida como la enfermería naval, donde actualmente están los edificios de la Armada de México.
Durante mi infancia disfrutaba de pasear por la playa, en ese tiempo se acostumbraba descargar las aguas residuales al mar, no había la infraestructura que hoy existe; gustábamos de escuchar los conjuntos musicales, en esa época destacaban Don Ramón Márquez, era una gran institución musical, Carlos Campos; Ivón Dior, era poseedora de una gran belleza y una magnífica interprete.
Venían muchos grupos al rompeolas, “Los Credis” de Guadalajara, ellos fueron hasta Grecia a representarnos, “Los Tecolines”, “Los Asís”, “Beny Muñiz y González”.
Manzanillo también fue el lugar de descanso de los presidentes, se hospedaban en el hotel Anita, ahí conocí a Adolfo Ruiz Cortines, también vino Adolfo López Mateos y Lázaro Cárdenas.
CVR-¿Qué vivencias tienes en tus 50 años de locutor?
“Recuerdo algunas obras que se realizaron en la prolongación de la calle México, donde ahora es la unidad habitacional Padre Hidalgo donde yo vivo, esos fueron terrenos que se le ganaron a la laguna de Cuyutlán, trajeron tierra de diferentes partes, de los cerros; el iguanario pertenecía a la laguna.”
CVR-¿Háblanos de tu vida, quién es Alfredo Campos, cómo fue su infancia?
“Mi papá era enfermero, luego en la milicia se convirtió en doctor, se llamaba Refugio Campos; se transportaba en una bicicleta todo vestido de blanco. En el municipio de Miguel Toronto en Veracruz, existe un hospital que lleva su nombre. Le decían el niño prodigio. En Manzanillo vivió en la Carrillo Puerto, a la altura de la Aquiles Serdán, en la calle siguiente del mercado municipal.
Adscrito a la Armada de México hacía labor social, tenía un gran espíritu de servicio, eso lo heredé de él, aprendí viéndolo, fue mi ejemplo; creo que hasta el momento he cumplido con el legado.”, concluyó diciendo.
